How Did You Choose Your Putter?
How you choose your putter is a personal decision. The question is: How Do You Make Up Your Mind? There are so many different putters to choose from. Is over-choice helping you or just adding to your confusion?
Are you like Craig Stadler, when asked why he was using a new putter, replied 'Because the last one didn't float too well'.
Everyone must carry a putter to play golf. It is a club that can make your spirits soar one moment or plunge you into the depth of despair the next.

Rife Scarab 2 Bar
|
I putt with a Tour Issue Rife Scarab 2 Bar putter fitted with a Biglite grip. My son who is a pro golfer gave it to me.
I have tried a number of different putter shapes, but keep coming back to the face-balanced mallet putter. It just suits my eye better.
With a heel-toe weighted putter I tend to fan open the putterface on my takeaway. The putter moves off-plane. You can see a picture of this fault on the web page on Putter Paths.
If I had to make a change I would probably go for a straight-in centre-shafted mallet putter, such as Gel Rego or Frankly Frog, rather than a heel-shafted putter.
Now is your chance to share with other readers the reasons why you chose your putter.
